Fight between Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) and Jose Benavidez Jr. (28-2-1, 19 KOs), scheduled for November 25 in Las Vegas, is scheduled for ten rounds. Thus, Charlo's WBC world title will not be on the line in this fight.

Charlo has not boxed since June 2021, so he will not defend his World Boxing Council belt until early next year. The last time an American boxed at a distance of less than 12 rounds was almost nine years ago.

During Charlo's inactivity, Carlos Adames became the interim WBC middleweight champion. It is possible that next week, during its annual convention, the Council will oblige the teams of both boxers to fight.
