Trainer Deontay Wilder Malik Scott said in an interview with Michael Benson that the heavyweight division would be in a better position if Wilder were the current champion instead of Tyson Fury. Fury took the title from Wilder in February 2020 and has since held the green belt, having had a rematch with the American and two defenses with Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora.

“It would definitely be a lot more interesting,” Scott said. — When he fights, people watch with great interest. Never before in history has there been a heavyweight with such punching power. He is dynamic, fast, and has character. The other guys are very banal, they are ordinary people."
