Between Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19 KOs) the trial is ongoing. Oscar De La Hoya's stable filed a lawsuit a few weeks ago against the boxer and his adviser and lawyer Guadalupe Valencia, demanding recognition and preservation of the promotional agreement between the two parties.

The other day, Garcia filed a motion to block the lawsuit against him, citing a contract clause that stipulates that all disputes must first be resolved through mediation.

GBP is seeking a court ruling that the American promotional organization has the exclusive right to promote, negotiate and show Garcia's professional fights, and that the boxer and his adviser are not authorized to negotiate or enter into any contracts with third parties regarding professional fights.

The Golden Boy lawsuit was filed a week after receiving a letter from Garcia asking for mediation and due to multiple violations of an agreement signed with the promoter in September 2019. The lawsuit does not say how long Garcia's contract with GBP should remain in effect.

Garcia has had one fight this year, losing to Gervonta Davis. The fight was a major financial organizational success: Garcia earned over $30 million for his performance.
