On August 20 at UFC 292 in Boston, USA, Weidman lost a unanimous decision to Brad Tavares. For the 39-year-old American, this was the first performance after a broken leg and two years of rehabilitation.

“I acted hesitantly. Probably, during the downtime, I rusted a little. No excuses, but I told Tavares after the fight that he was a great guy.

In the opening round, we stagnated a bit. It seems to me that he was afraid of my struggle, and I needed to get used to the octagon. It was a great opportunity for me to come back, but I haven't finished yet. I'll be back stronger than ever," Weidman was quoted as saying by LowKick MMA
