WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has nothing against the fight between Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) and former UFC champion Francis Ngannou (0-0, 0 KOs). The boxing fight will take place on October 28 in Saudi Arabia.
“The WBC fully supports Tyson Fury in his decision to fight a non-title fight, which will be a special event for the WBC. Fury has tried several times to fight unified champion Joshua and Ruiz Jr, and since he does not currently have a mandatory challenger, he is eligible to compete in this type of tournament under WBC rules, ”Suleiman said in an interview with Sky Sports.
The President of the World Boxing Council also explained that the mandatory opponent for Fury will be determined in the fight between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr. If fight negotiations fail, the WBC will offer an alternative solution.
