Fury-Ngannou won't have WBC belt at stake
Frank Warren claimed WBC title Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) in the heavyweight division will not be put on the line of the fight against Francis Ngannou. This means the Briton will not be defending his World Boxing Council belt this year.
Fury last defended his title in December when he beat Derek Chisora on points. The fight with Chisora was organized after the Gypsy King broke off negotiations for a fight with Anthony Joshua.
Recently, the WBC appointed Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr. as participants in the final eliminator, but negotiations on this matter have stalled. Fury made his last mandatory title defense last April, crossing gloves with Dillian Whyte.
