Negotiations are underway to sign a contract for a fight between the WBC world super lightweight champion Regis Prograis (29-1, 24 KOs) and undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs). This was announced by the British promoter Eddie Hearn.
According to the head of Matchroom Boxing, the agreement for this meeting is close. The fight may take place in the fall at one of the DAZN evenings.
Haney, after the May victory over Vasily Lomachenko, worked out his contract with Top Rank and is currently a free agent. Prograis recently signed with Hearn and last fought in June. It is currently unknown if a potential fight with Prograis will mean Haney will leave his lightweight belts vacant.
