Eddie Hearn in an interview with The DAZN Boxing Show confirmed the information that the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney expressed a desire to hold his next fight in a heavier, super lightweight, weight category and would like to see the WBC title holder as his opponent Regis Prograis.
Recently, Matchroom Boxing signed a three-fight contract with Prograis, in which the American will meet the Puerto Rican on June 17 Danielito Zorrilla in his native New Orleans.
"[Haney] called me the other day," Hearn said. — We had a great conversation. He wants to fight Regis Prograis. You know, it's a big fight. He wants to go up to 140 pounds. He wants a belt. And, you know, I told him, "You have to be a little more careful," because now part of his value is that he is the undisputed champion. So when he moves up in the division, he takes risks."
“But he defined Prograis as the fight he wants. I think it's an incredible fight. Regis loves to fight. Of course, first he needs to pass Zorrilla on June 17th. He has to go through it, he has to tear it to pieces, and he has to [summon] Devin Haney. We must bring them together. We need to offer the right fees for both guys, and I believe we can do it," Hearn added.
