Former interim middleweight contender Kelvin Gastelum announced his return to the welterweight division.

“They announce it officially - I'm going down to welterweight. The next fight will be in the 170 lb division. I'm going to dry off. I hope that I can become a contender for the title. I think I will succeed.

This is an opportunity to restart your career. The old problems with weight were left behind - I became older and smarter. In the past, I was young and undisciplined,” Gastelum wrote on social media.

Recall that the 31-year-old Gastelum did not compete in the welterweight division for seven years. He fought his last fight on April 8 at UFC 287, defeating Chris Curtis on points.
