Keyshawn Davis: 'Two more fights and I'll be ready to fight anyone'

Silver Olympic medalist Keyshawn Davis (8-0, 6 KOs) is pleased with how his career is developing. Eager to prove that he is one of the best in the world, last month Davis took on Anthony Yigit in just his eighth professional fight. Despite Yigit being considered a tough test, Davis effortlessly overcame Yigit's weak offensive moves en route to a ninth round stoppage victory.

As the upward trajectory of his career continues to move at incredible speed, Davis is delighted with the way things are going. Under normal circumstances, with only a few fights under his belt, at this stage of his career, Davis would seem to be far from a real title fight.

However, if the decision was up to him, a fight against any of the best in the lightweight division, including Devin Haney, the undisputed division champion, would be an option with a little extra preparation.

"Two more fights and I'll be ready to fight literally anyone," Davis told BoxingScene.com.

Despite his ambition, Davis's words may seem premature. As the road to every lightweight contender's aspirations passes through Haney, Davis will have to wait his turn.

Haney is currently finishing up a grueling training camp as he prepares to defend his four lightweight titles against Vassily Lomachenko on May 20. If he can handle the Ukrainian, then he will have to deal with Shakur Stevenson in a mandatory title defense. But despite being at the end of that food chain, Davis has a glimmer of hope.

There is currently an overwhelming consensus that Haney, given his ever-growing physique and efforts to make weight, will choose to relinquish the absolute throne and move into the super lightweight division after the Lomachenko fight. If these predictions come true, Davis believes that his chances of becoming a legitimate contender for the title fight will not be accidental. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old boxer believes that, being on the verge of a championship chance, he will not miss this opportunity.

"Once I put myself in the position to get a world title fight, I can get it," Davis added.
