June will mark two years since the last fight of the WBC world middleweight champion Jermalla Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs). Despite the long inactivity, the American will not lose his title in the near future, which, after meeting the boxer, the head of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Suleiman, assured.

“It was a great meeting. Charlo is having difficult personal problems right now. He thanked us for the support we are giving him. He is our champion and he is moving on,” Suleiman said.

The top three boxers in the current WBC middleweight contenders are Gennady Golovkin, Jaime Mungia and Sergey Derevyanchenko. The WBC also has its own "interim" champion - Carlos Adames.
