Brian Mendoza won a shocking victory this weekend by stopping the previously undefeated interim WBC welterweight world champion Sebastian Fundora.

“I never give up,” Mendoza said after the victory. “I always keep moving forward. You can beat me as much as you want, but if you don't knock me out, I will continue to fight. They couldn't stop me, and now it's too late, I'm getting better every time. I want to thank Fundora for accepting this fight. He didn't need to do it. It was really risky for the situation he was in."

“I saw how he opened up, so I realized that I need to go for a knockout. I knew that he would not stop advancing either. My moment has come, my time has come. I predicted everything that was going to happen in my last two fights and how they would end."

CompuBox stats showed that Fundora landed more punches than Mendoza 100-62. He also led the scorecards twice, 60-54 twice and 59-55 at the time the fight was stopped.

“I started to lose a couple of rounds, but I didn’t care,” Mendoza added. I never give up. I would have given up years ago when I started losing but I kept sparring and look where I am now. A year ago, I participated in a "floating" couple, and my fight took place after the main event of the evening, no one cared about who I was and what I was doing. But here's proof for you: keep working, and everything will work out for you!"
