The head of the WBC on the breakdown of negotiations Fury-Usyk
Mauricio Sulaiman, in an interview with Sky Sports, commented on the failure of negotiations for a duel for the absolute heavyweight title between Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs).

“The WBC has fully supported the idea of combining Fury and Usyk to determine the absolute champion,” said the head of the World Boxing Council. “It's incredibly disappointing that a fight like this didn't happen in a time window that won't happen again anytime soon. Further it will be even more difficult to agree on everything, because the three federations already have their own mandatory contenders.”
Suleiman also said that he does not yet have concrete information from the teams of Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr. regarding the date and place of their fight, which would determine the mandatory challenger for Fury.
