Previously Edgar Berlanga (20-0, 16 KOs) parted ways with Top Rank demanding the biggest fights and names. In two days, his new team promises to talk about his next steps. The boxer from New York with Puerto Rican roots won his first 16 fights in the first rounds. Then it turned out that when someone lives up to the first break, the fight drags on until the final gong.
“They were stopping my development,” Berlanga said of his promoters, who saw in his last fights evidence that it was too early for him to raise the bar.
"He wanted fights that we don't think he was ready for," Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said earlier.
“I have three attractive offers on the table. Today I will meet again with my manager Keith Connolly and we will discuss everything again. We want to decide on a new promoter within two days,” Berlanga said.
