Alexander Gvozdyk successfully returned to the ring

Alexander Gvozdyk (18-1, 14 KOs), former world light heavyweight champion, returned from sports retirement and added another victory to his track record. The Ukrainian was the WBC world champion, ended the career of Adonis Stevenson, but in the unification of the two belts capitulated to Artur Beterbiev in the tenth round.

Jorge Daniel Miranda was supposed to be the rival of the Ukrainian in his return last weekend, but a change took place just hours before the scheduled date. In the end, Gvozdik went up against Josue Obando (20-35-2, 15 KOs). In the first minutes of the fight, some nervousness, "rust" and lack of combat activity of the Ukrainian were noticeable, but by the end of the third round Gvozdyk began to get into the rhythm. After the fourth round, the opponent had a hematoma in his left eye, but the fight was scheduled for only six rounds, and the Mexican managed to survive until the final gong. In the end, Gvozdyk was already confidently delivering multi-hit combinations.

The judges scored the meeting with the same score 60:54.

Gvozdyk will turn 36 in April.
