Oleksandr Usyk, the world heavyweight champion, spoke about his motivation ahead of the rematch with Anthony Joshua.
āThe guys from the Armed Forces convinced me that I need to prepare and fight to help my country in the international arena, talk about it and bring Ukraine opportunities to restore the country. It was touching because some of the guys told me: you have to agree to a rematch with Joshua, prepare and come back with a victory. Ten or fifteen guys came to Saudi Arabia and supported me. These soldiers, who have been fighting since the first day, we brought to see the battle. Some guys didn't have limbs. When I met with them on the eve of the battle, I felt that I was with a part of the Ukrainian army. In the ninth round, I realized that if I fell now, the spirit of the fighters defending our country would also fall. I didnāt box for myself, I boxed for everyone who defends the country,ā Usyk said.
