Bellator Announces Lightweight Grand Prix

Bellator President Scott Cocker announced the promotion's Lightweight Grand Prix with a prize of $1 million on The MMA Hour.

While some fights are still in development, the tournament is due to kick off on March 10 at Bellator 292 in San Jose, California, USA. In the main event of the event, champion Usman Nurmagomedov will defend his title against Ben Henderson, and Tofig Musaev will meet Alexander Shabliy.

Also participating in the Grand Prix will be AJ McKee, Patricky Freire, Mansour Barnawi and Sidney Outlaw - dates and fights have not yet been set.

The Grand Prix was the fifth in the era of Cocker in Bellator, but the first in lightweight. Previously, heavyweight, featherweight, light heavyweight and bantamweight were introduced.
