Eddie Hearn claims to have reopened talks with Shelly Finkel about a fight between Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) and Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs). However, it follows from the words of promoter Joshua that despite the fact that there is a desire to organize this fight, there is very little chance that this will happen in the near future.
“Communication with Shelley is now established, we talked a lot, but until AJ picks up his coaching staff, we don’t want to make a choice of an opponent,” the head of Matchroom Boxing said in an interview with IFL TV. “We have three or four names for him, but we want the coaches to confirm the opponent.”
“Now Wilder has to fight Ruiz, so that will probably be his next fight. We would also like Dillian Whyte to fight Wilder or Joshua in the summer in the meantime. Let's see what happens, but it looks like Wilder will face Ruiz and AJ will enter the ring in late March or early April. Dillian Whyte could fight at the same time and then Joshua will face White in the summer," Hearn added.
