Savannah Marshall (12-1, 10 KOs) announced that she activated the rematch clause for the fight with Claressa Shields (13-0, 2 KOs). Their first duel took place in October and ended with the victory of the American by unanimous decision.
The British boxer wants the rematch to take place this summer at St James' Park in Newcastle. Shields had previously announced that the second fight would take place in the United States.
Last year, Shields signed a contract with Boxxer that earned her over $1 million. The rematch with Marshall will be her last performance under the terms of this contract.
