Promoter George Warren announced that Daniel Dubois (18-1, 17 KOs) was appointed by the WBA as the official challenger for the world heavyweight title. The champion of the World Boxing Association in the "royal" limit is now Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), who will have a unification bout with Tyson Fury in the spring.
Dubois has held the regular WBA belt since June of this year. The 25-year-old Brit is set to return to the ring on December 3 in London, where he will face Kevin Lerena. If the Englishman wins, the WBA may soon appoint him as a contender for the Usyk fight.
Recently, the IBF also informed the Ukrainian that in the near future he should fight with Filip Hrgovic. According to media reports, despite the requirement of the IBF, in March in Saudi Arabia, Usyk and Fury could fight for four heavyweight titles.
