Oliveira: "Makhachev got the title shot thanks to Khabib"

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira expressed the opinion that his closest rival Islam Makhachev didn't deserve a title shot.

“We must respect our opponent. Islam leads a series of 10 fights in a row. He fights smart, but it seems to me that he caught the wrong wave. He flies on Khabib's wave. And there is. Even our fight was made thanks to Khabib, ”said the Brazilian in the UFC Embedded issue.

The fight between Oliveira and Makhachev will headline the UFC 280 tournament, which will be held on October 22 in Abu Dhabi. A vacant lightweight belt will be at stake in the meeting.
