Promoter Conor Benna (21-0, 14 KOs), who was caught doping last week, Eddie Hearn, gave Boxing Social a long and detailed interview in which he tried to maintain the image of both his Matchroom company and the boxer whose fight against Chris Eubank Jr. was canceled despite all attempts by the promoter to save him.

The banned clomiphene was found in Benn's body, and probably not for the first time. The first incident allegedly occurred at the beginning of the year, but, according to Daily Mail journalists, the case was classified.

Recall that Benn's promoter's lawyers tried to obtain a court decision to cancel or circumvent the ban on the aforementioned fight issued by the British Boxing Council (BBBofC), but the court refused to issue an expedited decision.

"We could have easily gotten this fight done, but we made the decision not to do it until Conor Benn had a chance to live up to his name," Hearn said.

“Knowing about some facts, laboratory examinations, levels of substances in the body and the results of other tests conducted over a certain period, we have reason to believe that Conor Benn is innocent. I will wait for further developments of the situation, because I want Conor's innocence to be proven, ”added the head of Matchroom Boxing.
