Famous coach Teddy Atlas called the qualities of an Australian George Kambosos Jr., thanks to which he will be able to defeat the undisputed world lightweight champion American in rematch Devina Haney.
“Kambosos is a bit behind Haney when it comes to skill level, but I really like George. He is a fighter. His trump card is timing. Time beats speed. He skillfully used timing in the fight with Teofimo Lopez, who is a good puncher. He was able to knock down Teofimo because he timed well. He knew when he needed to hit his opponent with his right hand.
This says a lot. Kambosos is a guy who depends on timing, not speed. He has no data, because of which he can only rely on his abilities or on his genetics. He must win in other ways. He must think and overcome obstacles.
I think that George will look better in the second fight because he studied his opponent and realized what he did wrong. Kambosos understood in what areas he needed to make changes. Besides, we all know that he performs well when he is an underdog. He fights well when in this position.
I think that all this will help him fight better this time. He will have the best fight. I still choose Haney, but I'm sure Kambosos will do much better," said Atlas.
Recall that Haney and Kambosos will have a rematch on October 16 in Melbourne, Australia.
