WBA demanded from teams Leo Santa Cruz (38-2-1, 19 KOs) and Lee Wood (26-2, 16 KOs) to start negotiations for a fight for the world featherweight title. Their meeting is to take place early next year.

The distribution of the fee from a possible tender of promotional applications was set at 75 to 25 in favor of the Mexican. The boxing teams still have time to agree on the organization of the fight and avoid the competition.

Wood in his next professional appearance was supposed to meet with Mauricio Lara, and Santa Cruz was supposed to have a unification fight with Ray Vargas. Ultimately, the Englishman was injured and will immediately fight with Santa Cruz, who last boxed in February.
