Andy Cruz Gomez, three-time world champion in Olympic boxing (2017, 2019, 2021) and gold medalist of the Tokyo Olympics (2021), was supposed to make his professional debut in mid-May, but was pulled out of the fight due to a conflict with the coach. And then there was information that the titled Cuban had escaped from the island and would make his professional debut under other circumstances.

Sixty years later, Cuban boxers were admitted to professional boxing, but still under the control of the national team coach and according to the rules of the Cuban Union. Cruz quarreled with the coaching staff, he was punished in the most terrible way for him, forbidding him to speak, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

The almost 27-year-old boxer escaped from his native Cuba and is going to make his professional debut, but with a different promoter. And probably for a lot more money. It is expected that in the near future a struggle will begin between promoters who want to sign a contract with Cruz Gomez.

The Cuban plans to compete in lightweight.
