South African boxer Simiso Buthelezi's bout was stopped by the referee after he began throwing air strikes moments after knocking his opponent out of the ring through the ropes. The incident occurred during the 10th and final round of his fight for the World Boxing Federation African Lightweight Championship against Sifesikhle Mntungwa in Durban on Sunday. Buthelezi received immediate medical attention and is now in one of the local hospitals.
Perhaps the reason for this very strange behavior was the blow that Buthelesi missed when he was walking forward behind an opponent falling into the ropes. According to eyewitnesses, Buthelezi could also have received a concussion in the third round.
Very scary in South Africa please for Simiso Buthelezi (4-1). At 2:43 of the 10th & final round, Siphesihle Mntungwa (7-1-2) falls through the ropes but then Buthelezi appears to lose his understanding of the present situation.
