Devin Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) will have to make changes in his corner to fight with George Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs). The boxer's father, Bill Haney, who is also his trainer, failed to obtain an Australian visa for drug-related offenses for which he was convicted in 1992.
Now his place in the corner of the 23-year-old athlete will be taken by Yoel Judah. The fight for the WBA, WBO, WBC and IBF lightweight championship belts will take place on June 4 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.
“It will only add strength to Devin. I talked to him yesterday, and he told me that if the decision on my visa does not change, Kambosos will pay for it in the ring, ”said the father of the American boxer.
Haney spends the last weeks of training in Australia. The US boxer, who recently competed as a free agent, joined the promotional organization Top Rank for this fight and only three fights in a row.
