Fury poses for a picture with cartel boss in Dubai

April 23 WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) will fight the mandatory contender for his title Dillian Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs). Fury is currently preparing for this fight in Dubai and is causing great controversy with the meetings held there.

Former professional boxer Zayed Khan posted a photo on social media of himself with Fury and a friend of Fury's, a friend of Fury's, a Dubai-based international criminal, Daniel Kinahan.

Kinahan, according to InSight Crime, is the last remaining leader of a global supercartel that smuggled 33 tons of cocaine worth about 7 billion euros into the Netherlands in 2018 alone. Boxing fans, for their part, know Daniel Kinahan also as the founder of the MTK Global management group, which plays an important role in the world of boxing, representing the interests of many famous boxers.

Previously, Daniel Kinahan was known as the boss of an infamous cartel founded around 2000 and run for over fifteen years by Daniel's father, Christy, the famed "Smart Don". The Irish cartel has played a key role in drug trafficking (mainly cocaine and marijuana) in Europe over the past decade. The Dublin boss remains elusive despite multiple investigations against him. He is protected, among other things, by the laws of Dubai, although they say that this year the issue of his extradition to Ireland should be finally decided at the government level.

Kinahan has been Fury's advisor and manager for the last five years. He was instrumental in negotiating fights with Anthony Joshua in the Middle East for all heavyweight belts. These fights, however, did not take place, and after a wave of criticism even in the Irish Parliament, the current WBC champion decided - at least officially - to part with his scandalous friend. Now the problem is back, the indignation of the aforementioned photos has already been expressed by the former Prime Minister of Ireland, now the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar.

Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte is likely to take place at Wembley Stadium. If Fury wins, he can fight for the undisputed champion title in the United Arab Emirates with the winner of the May showdown between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk II.
