Oliveira and Gaethje face off May 7 at UFC 274

UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira will fight against Justin Gaethje May 7 at the UFC 274 tournament. ESPN journalist Brett Okamoto announced this on his Twitter with a link to promotion president Dana White.

The 32-year-old Oliveira (32-8 1 NC) won the vacant belt last May with a TKO win over Michael Chandler. In December, the Brazilian made his first title defense, strangling Dustin Poirier in the third round.

33-year-old Gaethje (23-3) in October 2020 received a fight with the then champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, but lost by submission in the second round. The American returned in November last year, defeating Michael Chandler by unanimous decision in a spectacular fight.
