Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) is suing his longtime promoter Bob Arum. The reigning WBO welterweight world champion has accused Top Rank of racial bias.
The 34-year-old athlete accuses Arum of the promoter's "hideous racial bias" preventing him from having big fights and making tens of millions of dollars. The documents were filed with the Nevada State Court.
Crawford claims that the 90-year-old promoter, whom he has had a contract with since 2011, "doesn't care, support, or know how to promote black boxers." The American boxer announced after his November fight with Shawn Porter that he would stop working with Top Rank.
Crawford announced his decision to the media at a press conference following the fight that marked his return to the ring after a year-long hiatus. For the November performance, Crawford was supposed to earn six million dollars.
