Splitting the bidding purse 80 to 20 in favor of Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) questioned his bout against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs).
Whyte and promoter Eddie Hearn demanded to divide the money 55 by 45, but the World Boxing Council took the position of "King of the Gypsies". Each side on this issue has its own arguments. The reigning WBC heavyweight champion is planning a comeback on March 26th.
“Tyson wants to fight at the end of March. And whatever happens, he will be in the ring on March 26th. We just don't know yet if it will be in England or elsewhere. Whether it's with Whyte or someone else,” said Frank Warren, one of Fury's two promoters.
“Whyte has earned 300 and 500 thousand in the last two battles. Tyson, in the last meeting alone, received 20 million. Therefore, there could be no other partition other than 80 by 20. This, frankly, is already a lot of money for Whyte. We don't have an agreement with Dillian's team at this time. But Tyson will fight at the end of March, with or without Whyte,” added Warren.
Earlier, in the light of possible candidates for a meeting with Fury, the names of Andy Ruiz and Robert Helenius were mentioned as potential substitutes for Whyte.
