UFC interim bantamweight title holder Petr Yan announced a renewal with the promotion and confirmed that on May 5 he will have a rematch against the champion of his division Aljamain Sterling.
“Today we signed a new contract with the UFC on improved conditions for six fights. And also for the next fight! On March 5th, there will be a belt defense in Las Vegas!" Yan wrote on Instagram.
Last March Yan lost to Sterling by disqualification due to a prohibited knee blow and lost his belt. The rematch was scheduled for October 30 at UFC 267, but the American withdrew from the fight due to injury. As a result, the Russian fought for the interim title with Cory Sandhagen, winning by unanimous decision.
