Former VP of Affliction Tom Athension shared his memories of how Alexander Emelianenko during his stay in St. Petersburg made an attempt to steal his wristwatch.
“I was in Russia, St. Petersburg. There they have a place, the ship "Flying Dutchman" - an exact replica of the ship of the 18th century. This is an establishment with restaurants, not far from the Hermitage. In my opinion, it has three restaurants, two nightclubs, a hall, and several sleeping places. You go in, and there are long-legged girls spinning on a pole. One girl with bulldog tattoos played the saxophone. In general, a dream place for a man. I was having a good time and was getting ready to go to the toilet. And the toilet was there at the very bottom of the ship, you had to go down the stairs.
"I went down, go up the stairs - and I see Alex coming down to meet me. Have you ever seen him live? He's a big guy. Usually I never impose, but then I reached out my hand: "Alex, I'm Tom from Affliction." He, of course, did not know who I was, but he shook my hand. And when he pressed it, at the same time he began to unfasten the strap on my watch! He began to pull off my watch! I shouted "No!", Grabbed them abruptly and ran upstairs. I was in a lost, agitated state. “Did he really try to steal my watch? This is some kind of joke?" He pulled them together with that Russian impenetrable face, like Fedor's.
"I return to the bar, and soon Alex himself joins in there. He tells me through some person who has undertaken to translate that he liked my T-shirt, and invites me to exchange T-shirts. And he had a tight white T-shirt with the K-1 logo, I think. By the way, and now I have it somewhere. He took it off and I took mine off. I put on his shirt and it was all wet with sweat. It was disgusting, to be honest. Here's a story - I first met Alex Emelianenko, and he tried to steal my watch. Although I had a great time in Russia, even though surreal things were happening there..." said Athension.
