Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier admitted that he would like to see the fight of Justin Gaethje and Islam Makhachev as an eliminator.
“Gaethje's victory over Chandler was his first since losing the title fight. He still sits in second place, with Islam having a long winning streak.
"It's not up to me to decide, but, perhaps, Makhachev should face another top opponent. Maybe he should fight Gaethje. In this way they would be able to resolve this sport. The good thing about this sport is that you can go out and resolve the issue in the octagon,” Poirier said on The MMA Hour.
Poirier will face the reigning champion Charles Oliveira on December 11 at UFC 269.
