"We will meet with Eddie Hearn in a few weeks and start rematch talks," said Alexander Krassyuk, promoter of Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs), who is under contract to fight Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) for a second time next year.
The Ukrainian surprised bookies when he defeated the Englishman in late September to become the new IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion of the world. Joshua's promoter said a few days after the fight that the rematch is likely to take place at the turn of March and April. But the details of the re-match will still be finalized.
"As for the venue, we have three options to choose from: Ukraine, again the UK and the Middle East. I hope we will make a final decision before the end of the year. Alexander is in no hurry to combine titles. He knows he signed the contract and he will keep his word about the rematch. There's nothing to be upset about, everything is going according to plan. In any case, Fury has to prove his championship with a mandatory defence. We, for our part, are now focused on the rematch with Joshua," Krassyuk added.
