AIBA presents the Val Barker Trophy to world champion Andy Cruz Gomez

The International Boxing Association (AIBA), organizing the 2021 World Boxing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, has awarded the Val Barker Trophy to the best boxer of the championship. According to AIBA, Andy Cruz Gomez of Cuba won the cup in 63.5 kg class.

Since its foundation in 1936 the Val Barker Cup has been awarded only at Olympic Games. Perhaps because the title was not awarded at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Association's management decided to award the "vacant" cup to the best world championship boxer.
