Kharitonov scores a bizarre win over Maldonado

Russian heavyweight Sergey Kharitonov defeated Brazilian Fabio Maldonado by technical knockout at the Parus show in Dubai.

In the first round Kharitonov managed to shake his opponent with a straight right, then he continued his attack, but the referee unexpectedly stopped the fight. This decision displeased both fighters: Maldonado tried to protest, while Kharitonov only spread his hands in the middle of the cage.

Thus, 41-year-old Kharitonov won his thirtieth victory in mixed martial arts with eight defeats.
