It seemed like Jarrell Miller (23-0-1, 20 KOs) career could be over after another doping scandal, but it is not out of the question that we will see the American again next year.
The possible challenger for the world heavyweight title has not fought for three years. First, $5 million and a chance at a championship fight with Anthony Joshua slipped out from under his nose, and when his disqualification ended, he signed with Top Rank and tested positive again for doping two weeks before his debut with a new promoter and fight with Jerry Forrest. "Big Baby" tried to explain the presence of banned drugs in the sample with potency pills.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission disqualified Miller for two years. The ban applied to all U.S. states, so the American could not compete anywhere in the United States. The period of ineligibility could be reduced to 18 months, provided, however, that the fighter undergoes special treatment and regular check-ups.
Miller returned to the gym and is now training under Kevin Cunningham in Southern California.
"Jarrell's skill set is unmatched among super heavyweights. I will help him take his skills and technique to another level. "The big kid assured me that he's watching all the commission minutes to get his situation right. I've always believed in second chances, he deserves that too," Cunningham said.
"Jarrell hopes to return early next year. If all goes according to plan, I'd like to see him against an opponent from the very top of the rankings in his next fight," Miller's new coach added.
