In big fights, the priority is to select the best available sparring partners. World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs) will defend his IBF, WBA and WBO belts on September 25 at the football stadium in London. The challenger will be the Olympic champion and the king of the cruiserweight division, skilled southpaw Oleksandr Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs).
Joshua had several sparring partners in preparation, but Demsey McKean (19-0, 12 KOs) proved to be one of the most important in the end.
"Being in the number one camp in the world means a lot to me. The offer came over a month ago, but it wasn't easy to leave the country. These sparring sessions are a really good experience," said the Australian, who is likely to stay in the UK for a long time.
"There's not much going on in Australia right now. I've had two fights in two years and I can't find a decent opponent locally and they won't let others into the country. That's why I've decided to leave the country for a long time. It's not out of the question that I'll fight in UK at the end of the year, we're negotiating it. One of my supposed opponents is New Zealander, the other is British," McKean revealed his plans.
