Eddie Hearn has revealed circumstances on ticket sales for the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight title fight of Anthony Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs) and Alexander Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs). The fight, scheduled for September 25, will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where 60,000 fans will watch it live. Tickets for this event were sold out in 24 hours.
“The interest in tickets was really great. Initially, when it was revealed that Joshua would not fight Tyson Fury, fans were disappointed. But the longer they heard about the fight against Usyk, the more they wanted to see it,” said the head of the Matchroom Boxing promotion organization.
“We had 50 thousand people in the online queue for tickets. The number of visits shows that we could easily sell over 200,000 tickets for the evening. It will be an amazing event,” the British promoter said.
At the same evening, Lawrence Okolie will defend his WBO Cruiserweight title for the first time against Dylan Prasovic. Former super middleweight champion Callum Smith is also likely to make his London debut in the light heavyweight division.
