Morrell knocks out Casares in first, defends WBA title

David Morrell (5-0, 4 KOs) knocked out Mario Casares (12-1, 5 KOs) in the first round of the Premier Boxing Champions main event in Minneapolis. Thus, the Cuban defended his regular WBA super middleweight belt.

The fight ended after Morrell's two accurate left shots. The first punch hurt Casares, and after the second, the winner of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fell hard on the floor.

At the same evening Efetobor Apochi (11-1, 11 KOs) suffered his first professional defeat, after occupying a high position in the ranking in the cruiserweight division. Apochi lost on points to Brandon Glanton (14-0, 11 KOs). After ten rounds, the judges scored it 96-93 in favor of the Nigerian and twice 95-94 for the American.
