The WBO management agreed to give additional 48 hours, during which the team of Anthony Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs) must provide evidence that a unification fight of AJ and Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) will take place in August. The World Boxing Organization's deadline expired on Friday, but Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn asked for two more days.
“This date coincides with the weekend. I need to meet Joshua and his team. These are important decisions about his future, so we don't want to rush. We will send all correspondence on this matter to the WBO on Monday,” Hearn said.
It is already known that in his next performance as a pro, Fury will cross gloves with Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs). Joshua will face Alexander Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs), who is the official contender for the WBO heavyweight title that belongs to the British. The fight will take place in the UK in August.
