Saunders earns $8 million for his fight against Canelo

Billy Joe Saunders (30-1, 14 KOs) for his unification fight against Saul Alvarez (55-1-2, 37 KOs) earned $8 million, according to Mike Coppinger.

At stake in their meeting there were the WBO, WBA and WBC super middleweight championship belts. Saunders, who lost the fight by refusing to continue it after the eighth round, suffered a serious injury in a duel with Canelo - a multiple fracture of the orbital bone.

The already former World Boxing Organization champion underwent surgery in the US but will return to the UK soon.
