Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) and Teofimo Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) were named the Best Fighters of 2020 by The Ring magazine. This is the first time in 35 years that the Boxing Bible has awarded two athletes at once in one year.
Fury earned this status from The Ring thanks to the victory over Deontay Wilder in their rematch for the WBC heavyweight belt, while Lopez made his mark by winning the undisputed lightweight title in the fight against Vasyl Lomachenko.
The previous year's winner by The Ring was Saul Alvarez, who defeated Callum Smith this year, winning the championship titles in his fourth weight category. However, according to the editors of the magazine, this was not enough to get past Fury and Lopez.
