Oscar Rivas (26-1, 18 KOs) became the first-ever leader in the newly created WBC Bridger weight category. The Colombian has announced that he is ready to win the championship belt in the new weight, although dueling in the heavyweights remains a priority for him.

The 33-year-old Colombian has not entered the ring after losing to Dillian Whyte last year. Rivas lost to the Briton by unanimous decision. After the fight, Whyte was accused of doping, but after a few months the charges were dropped.

“If there is an opportunity to compete for a new WBC belt with an attractive opponent, we will use it. In the heavyweight division nobody wants to fight Rivas, so this could be an interesting alternative,” said Yvon Michel, the Canadian promoter of Rivas.
