On February 20 at Top Rank Boxing Night in the United States, WBC featherweight champion Miguel Berchelt (37-1, 33 KOs) will finally face former WBO Featherweight Champion Oscar Valdez (28-0, 22 KOs). Earlier, the duel was scheduled for December 12, but Berchelt contracted the coronavirus and dropped out of the training process.
The 28-year-old Berchelt has been the holder of the World Boxing Council title for three years. The Mexican boxer had two fights last year. Last he fought in November, defeating Jason Sosa by knockout. In June, Berchelt fought Eleazar Valenzuela, but the result of the meeting was canceled.
Valdez left the featherweight title vacant almost a year ago and decided to change weight. In the new weight, the 29-year-old boxer has already fought twice. In his last performance, he beat Jason Velez by KO.
