Alvarez and Smith will also battle for the vacant WBC belt

Today WBC announced that it is sanctioning Saul Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) versus Callum Smith (27-0, 19 KOs), scheduled for December 19 as the championship fight for the vacant super middleweight title.

Earlier it became known that the Mexican and the British are going to fight for Smith's WBA title and "The Ring" magazine belt.

For Alvarez, the December performance will be the first since the end of his collaboration with promoter Oscar De La Hoya.
