In June, it was suggested that next year Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21 KOs) and Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) would fight for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion and could have two fights. However, WBO mandatory challenger Alexander Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs) is also counting on a duel with AJ. What scenario does Joshua himself see for himself in early 2021?
“I don’t know what will happen, but if I had to bet my money on, I would have bet on the fight with Usyk,” the WBO, WBA and IBF champion said in an interview to ESPN. "Usyk, like me, is promoted by Matchroom, organizing such a meeting is easy, and history shows that when he says that he wants to fight someone, he does so and goes into the ring."
Joshua did not want to say unequivocally which of the opponents would be more difficult for him: “They are very different in size and technical skills, but both are dangerous. Now I treat every fight as risky. Usyk or Fury are both dangerous, I can't tell which one is definitely more dangerous."
