Promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that British heavyweight Daniel Dubois suffered an orbital bone fracture and a nerve injury around his left eye after losing to Olympic silver medalist Joe Joyce in Saturday's bout.

The fight was very even, but Dubois's left eye began to close during the fight as a result of Joyce's hard punches. During the tenth round, Dubois missed another blow to the left eye and deliberately dropped to one knee. Dubois did not rise until the end of the referee's countdown.

At the time of the stoppage of the fight, the 23-year-old boxer was in the lead on two of the three official notes of the judges. After the fight, he was taken to one of the local hospitals.

“Daniel Dubois will be back. He is only 23 years old and has a huge and successful career ahead of him. He took a chance, but this time he was out of luck. He has a fractured orbital bone and a nerve injury around the eye,” Warren said.
