Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) in an interview with Brian Custer categorically ruled out his appearance in the new WBC weight category - the bridgerweight (up to 224 pounds).

“I know that people have to make money, for this all these belts and so on. I understand that you need to make money, but as a boxer I don't understand all these weight classes. If this category was made for me, and I was offered to become its face, I would refuse!" the Bronze Bomber said.

“My career is in the heavyweight division, that's why I'm here. I can weigh 205 pounds, my opponents have always weighed more than me. I easily do 206 pounds or so. In the last fight I weighed 231 in order to gain more mass, for me this is not a problem. If I were to fall into a lighter weight class, I would make avocados out of these guys' faces, I have too much power for that. I'm knocking out guys now who weigh 30 or 50 pounds more than me. It's not the best option for me to go down,” Deontay Wilder said.
